12/11/11

I am now 5 weeks into my journey. This has been a week I have been looking forward to the whole time. The first few weeks I have been able to adjust my diet in order to lose weight. This week, the workouts began. I was so excited to see this and looked forward to anxiously beginning them. I was able to do the first day and then another road block hit. I became very sick with some form of a stomach bug. I was unable to keep food down. Along with missing school a few days, I unfortunately missed workouts as well. Though I continued to lose weight, it was not the best method. Now that I am feeling better, I can't wait to start the workouts and continue them daily. I have lost 15 pounds in the first 5 weeks! I am thrilled with this start. Workouts should help my weight loss progress and I am eager to see how far I can take this journey.

11/30

Well it has been awhile since I have written a blog. I am still on my journey and still losing weight which is good. Things have picked up in my life as far as coaching basketball, finding out my baby on the way is going to be a boy, and lots of celebrations. I had birthday parties for my father and niece Emma all in the same week. Along with that, my first holiday challenge also fell in the same week. It started with my father's birthday which I enjoyed. I did eat a hearty dinner that night which was Wednesday. Of course the next day had to be Thanksgiving where I enjoyed many adult beverages and another delicious meal cooked my my mother-in-law. Needless to say my weight loss was severely effected. I worked out hard Friday and Saturday mornings to try to make up for it. Finally on Sunday I had my niece's party where I behaved myself for the most part and did not eat a ton of food. I did however enjoy cake. By the end of the weekend I realized that I had a phenomenal time, but set myself back in my goals. I was angry with myself at first and wanted to give up because of frustration. It was at this point I remembered that this is a lifestyle change and not a quick fix. I came to my first challenge and did not do as well as I would have liked. Rather than be upset, and angry I decided to take it in stride and move on. I have better prepared myself for the next challenge and also have learned from mistakes. My partner through this journey, Ryan, has kept me focused and we are constantly talking about success and setbacks. It really does help having someone go through it with you. Anyone going through this journey, keep moving forward and working hard. I wish you luck. I'm going to try to stay on top of my blogs and report back more. Plus Ryan may never forgive me if I slack on them again.

11/13/11

Each week I have decided to track my journey of becoming healthy. It is my belief that this will help keep me on the right path. Week by week I am trying to change my lifestyle and not just my body. Following Drew's advice from Fit2Fat2Fit, I have started my journey last Saturday and completed the first week. Drew suggested to start by changing eating habits and not really focusing on workouts just yet. Cleansing my insides was the focus. I have managed to cut soda out of my diet completely. Friday, November 4th was the last sip and an end to what seemed like a soda addiction. I went from 3-4 cans of soda each day, to no soda. I was very proud of myself for this. In the meantime I have lost 4 pounds this week and a total of 8 since my heaviest weigh in. Though I have not set a goal weight just yet, I will continue to track my weight loss each week. I originally decided to weigh in each Wednesday and Sunday. I think I am going to change that this week and weigh in today (Sunday), Tuesday, and Thursday. I find myself wanting to see results sooner than later, which I think is natural. I do not apply this thinking though to my overall weight loss. I realize it will be a slow process if I do it the right way.

Hopefully next week I can share more positive results with you. Those that are going through the same process of trying to become more healthy, I applaud you, support you, and wish you the best.

To my partner Ryan, keep working hard man. The talks and comparisons help keep me on track. I Look forward to hearing how things went this week.

11/5/11

With a baby on the way, it is my goal to become as healthy as I can so that I can be an active dad and not one that is unable to play with his child. It is extremely important to me. Ryan, a friend of mine, has introduced me to the story Fit2Fat2Fit. http://www.fit2fat2fit.com Check it out if it is something you may be interested in. I found it to be very informative. One of my favorite quotes from Drew's doctor was "An important lesson for all watching: correct, long lasting weight loss is a process. The body must heal from the damage done then and only then will weight loss be significant and maintainable. Quick weight loss plans do not do this, and that is why we have so many people excellent at dieting and losing weight, but even better at finding it again." This really hit home with me because I have always been able to lose weight relatively quickly, but I have never managed to keep it off for good. Drew is planning on his journey taking 6 months to get back into shape and getting back to a healthy lifestyle. I plan on following his workouts each day while trying my best to eat better and healthier. I have never been one to put my business out there, but feel it may help me with my journey. Let's hope for the best! BRING IT!

Step 1 - Grocery Shopping! In order for my journey to be successful, I must change the way I eat.
Step 2 - Perform my morning stretching routine.
Step 3 - Do the daily workout.
Step 4 - Later tonight perform the stretching routine again.
